Online Library Course
Effective learning environments are those that support and maximize student learning. They may include several components such as the organization of the online classroom, the instructional practices of the teacher, course learning supports, and the pace and sequence of the class in order to create the ideal learning experience. Multiple researchers have examined various factors that contribute to effective learning environments and have developed principles, theories, frameworks, and models for educators to inform instructional practices and the learning design process. Dennen, Burner, Gagné, Merrill, Moreno, and Mayer are among the many researchers whose work has made significant contributions in the field of education and educational technology. This course was created to support online learning as our school district transitioned to all virtual learning during the start of the 2020-2021 school year. Guiding research on design principles of effective learning environments inspired the design of the learning experiences here. Special consideration was taken to create developmentally appropriate online learning experiences for young learners.
